If I sign up to get support, can I stay anonymous?
No, unfortunately you cannot anonymously sign up for aunty Club.
Our primary focus is to create relationships which requires communication. You will need to share information about yourself and what you need for us to match you with the right aunty. You will then need to connect with your aunty via either phone, email or text and work out how best to exchange the pre-loved clothing.
If you are feeling shame around needing support, please know we all need support. In our view it shows real strength to be able to ask for help.
If you do not feel safe sharing your details and need help, we strongly recommend you reach out to Police or Woman’s Refuge.
What if I just want to receive clothing for my children but have no other contact?
That’s fine, however you will need to maintain semi-regular contact to confirm children’s clothing size and needs.
What if I don’t need material things but want a connection?
Aunty club has been created to facilitate the connection of those who have pre-loved children’s clothing with those that need this support for their children.
Our mission is to create a supportive network where pre-loved children’s clothing finds a new home, and meaningful relationships are built.
We will endeavour to find you the right match and make sure you are able to receive this emotional support as well. Generally having a regular check-in and catchup is a great way to build meaningful relationship and get the support you are needing without relying too heavily on your matched aunty.
We ask that you review the code of conduct as we want to ensure that everyone understands the expectations of this relationship.
Am I eligible to receive aunty support? Do I need to pass any criteria?
We don’t have criteria just want to connect mums with the support of pre-loved children’s clothing. If you could really benefit for this, we would love you to join us and be matched with an aunty.
What if after 6 months the child(ren) of my match grows bigger than my child so the clothes can no longer be handed down?
This could absolutely happen.
Through the login portal where you will find your account you can change your criteria and do a rematch.
Is this just for aunties / mums?
Aunty Club is for anyone raising children that needs extra support via an aunty.
Please reach out if you are interested and need support.
What if my circumstances change and I am no longer able to support?
We totally understand!
You can change your account through the login portal.
Does aunty club provide the pre-paid post bags?
We have previously tried to provide pre-paid bags and received some sponsored for this.
Moving forward we are asking that aunties sort the postage or delivery (if you are in the same city) and will be focusing on other essential support we can offer through donations, sponsorship, and grants. This could include petrol and supermarket vouchers.
With the cost of living and raising grocery and petrol costs we are continuously hearing how valuable this would be to those really struggling at the moment. We want to prioritise getting people these essentials.
Can I provide something one off?
We do not provide one-off support to any of our connections. Our focus is to connect mums with continuous support in the form of pre-loved children’s clothing.
For one off donations, please get in touch with your local support organisations. There are a number of options and depending on where you are across New Zealand.
Here are a few options:
- The Nest Collective
- Salvation Army
- Women’s Refuge
- Dove Hospice shops
We cannot support consistently but want to contribute, how can we do that?
Thank you for thinking of us! Please check out our donation or sponsorship pages and see how you can support our operations.
We are planning to host events to raise awareness and build support around aunty Club. This might be a good way to get involved. We will be seeking auction donations at these events also so if you are keen to share the love this way please reach out.
As a not-for-profit being run by three mum’s part time, any help received will go a long way and is really appreciated.
How often am I expected to give?
Upon signing up we hope you can send or deliver a package of quality preloved clothing from your children every two months.
Sometimes that is not possible, and we get that!
Once you are matched with your mum, have the conversation, and agree what works best for you both and what is possible. It
may be that you can offer other contributions like grocery vouchers or preloved toys instead.
Can I give to multiple people?
Yes, if that works for you and your family that is great!
Thank you very much.
What if I no longer need to receive support?
No problem, just let us know.
What if I am matched with someone with multiple children?
This is very likely to happen as our matching algorithm works in a “best case” fashion. Please know you are not expected to have preloved clothing in all sizes specified. Just whatever you have to give will be most appreciated.
